Stick with heels that are 3 inches or less, and shun stilettos in favor of boxier heels
for better stability.
Look for shoes that give your toes plenty of room to wiggle. ? You?re constantly
up on your toes when you?re dancing, and if the shoe is too tight or too pointy,
it can compress the nerves that run behind the toes,? causing your toes to go numb,
says podiatrist Arnold Ravick, D. P. M.
Go with leather, especially if your feet tend to sweat. Leather shoes Breathe better
than man ? made materials and are usually more flexible.
Make sure there?s some stiffness to the sole. ?Any shoe that that you can roll up into
a ball generally is not a good idea,? Ravick says.
Check for ample cushioning in the foot bed and a rigid counter (that cradles the
heel of the foot) for support on both sides.
Watch for wear and tear. ?If you?re out dancing every weekend, you might want
to invest in at least two pairs of shoes,? Ravick says. That way you can alternate
and reduce your risk of developing hot spots of blisters.?
