Bronze American Smooth : Jim and Jenell combine to make a solid and enjoyable team as they each break down details necessary to make steps work for the beginning and intermediate dancer. Technique is a big part of making American Smooth steps work, and these Bronze level DVDs address this requirement without information overload or presenting frame technique too advanced for Intermediate level dancers. As in all Dancevision DVDs, steps are demonstrated multiple times from different angles, broken down individually for the man and lady, with additional time spent on details necessary to make the steps work in partner position. In addition to 2 different multiple-step demonstrations done to music, a nice touch is the dance at the end of their DVDs, where they dance an entire song using all steps covered in the DVD.
Just learning the 15+ steps and technique covered on these Bronze level DVDs puts you in the top quarter of social dancers at any event you'll attend in the future. The secret: if you're teaching yourself from these DVDs, pay attention to all the visual details. Learn the steps by listening and practicing, then come back again and notice things that are different between your steps and what you see on the DVD (a video camera during practice is excellent for this). Make corrections and be prepared to graciously take compliments on your dancing the next time you're out.
