Fabulous, easy to learn dance instruction! Recommended!

Highly recommended! I bought the Johnson/Kozak Cha Cha, Waltz, Tango, FoxTrot, EC Swing and Jitterbug DVDs from DanceVision after finding a couple of them in our local library. I'm very happy with my purchase. I also bought a Ron Montez Beginner/Intermediate American Rumba DVD since there was no American Rumba DVD offered by Johnson/Kozak. The Montez DVD is more smooth and professionally presented and there is a lot of material on the DVD; (it also costs twice as much). But for a beginner I think the Johnson/Kozak DVDs are much better. Watching them makes you want to get up and dance! That does not happen with the Montez DVD; it is so smooth that all the life has been squeezed out. The Montez DVDs may be better for more advanced dancers, but the Johnson/Kozak DVDs have a raw and honest energy to them that is invaluable for beginners. I should add that Mr. Johnson believes the man should not try to force the lady to dance what he wants, but simply offer her a clear and definite invitation to dance the pattern he has chosen. Ms. Kozak instructs for the all the moves of the lady in their DVDs; (Ms. Montez does not speak in the Montez DVD). Ms. Kozak adds a lot to the value of the Johnson/Kozak DVDs. The practice music for their Jitterbug DVD could have been written with Ms. Kozak in mind: "She has a cat-like quality that no one can erase. And when you see her on the floor you know she's in her place."

I purchased the Tango, Waltz, Foxtrot, and Cha-Cha DVDs in this series. All of them are good instruction for a very beginer dancer.
I have been dancing for over 20 years. Unfortunately, I didn't advance my dance over those years. I think the Tango is the best of this series.
The instruction in all the DVDs is clear. Both dancers have very good to excellent form. I have some other DVDs in other dances, and the quality of dance is just bad. That takes away from my ability to learn.
The Tango DVD has a good selection of variations. They are what I see on the social dance floor. Clearly, instructed and shown. In none of the DVDs do I see the instructors try and prove their competancy. That is good for a basic beginer DVD. Some DVDs I have try and get to slick.
I was extermely happy with this one. These are the first DanceVision DVDs I purches and watched. I bought one of the Salsa DVDs, today. I hope it is just as good.
