I was most impressed with Victor and Anna--theirs were the best instructional videos, for me, that I have ever seen. I know they are 4th in the World--but to come out with such great basics and such complete teaching...I feel like I got a really great deal.

Very good explanations on the whole. Less detail than Marcus and Karen (Simply the Best series), but logical and easy to understand. I've seen many basic videos, but I definitely learned something new here. Good video quality, and figures danced repeatedly at different viewing angles, with and without partner. I found it useful to replay some of these in slow motion.
One complaint: Victor and Anna show how to do a back wing instead of a normal one, which is fine, since the position is similar. But then they go on and teach how to do a double reverse out of wing position, which most people don't do. Would have preferred if they also showed the double reverse from closed. Similarly, wish they had shown a normal back whisk as well as the back whisk into slip pivot.
But overall, a very good video. You can replay it over and over again (definitely recommend slow mo), and much cheaper than a 45 min private!

This is it. Victor and Anna's technique of basics are the best instruction videos I have ever seen, and I have many. If you want to learn the fine points of International Standard, this is all you will need. The DVDs seem expensive, but they are well worth every penny. For instance, the Waltz video alone is almost 3 hours of very high level and detailed technique as applied to clever variations of the basics?..14 steps in all that will give you the patterns to get around even the biggest of dance floors. Victor talks about everything from posture to sway to contra-body movement to advanced foot placement. He also takes a minute here and there to explain why these techniques are so very important to good dance. Anna is just as detailed and articulate in explaining the lady's part. She even talks about slight delays in some foot placements to allow the man to determine the length and placement of his step. Victor and Anna teach what dance is really all about..not the arms and legs, but the core and body movement. These are great concepts that apply to every dance.
